Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Pravasi Sangham state committee has welcomed the announcement of the state health minister that the RTPCR test for NRIs will be conducted free of cost. Kerala has a government that helps expats in many ways. Pravasi Sangham State President PT Kunjumuhammed and General Secretary KV Abdul Khader MLA greeted the Chief Minister and the Health Minister in a statement.
The central government has asked expatriates to take the test on their own. This caused a great deal of protest in the expatriate world. Only those who test negative in the Gulf are now allowed to fly. The expatriate community, among others, took the position that it was not justifiable to suggest that they should pay for the inspection on their own when returning to India. The Pravasi Sangham State Committee said that it was happy that the state government understood the plight of the Pravasi.
