KUWAIT CITY: IMCC GCC President Sathar Kunnil has welcomed the decision of the Government of Kerala to implement a free PCR Kovid test at the airport for all foreign nationals. Many expatriates were stranded in the Grancit countries due to travel restrictions and lost their jobs in the Kovid crisis. Sathar said it was the government’s decision to bring them together.
The decision by the central government to intensify surveillance at airports in the country and to conduct PCR checks at airports for foreigners has provoked strong opposition among expatriates. He also said that the government’s position that the Left is the people is now irrelevant. Several organizations, including the IMCC, have petitioned the state and central governments to withdraw or free the PCR test at the airport. Sathar Kunnil said in a statement that the government has once again proved that it is with the expatriates who have taken a pro-expatriate stance by recognizing the adverse situation faced by the expatriates.
He added that the Kerala government’s repeated expatriate-friendly measures came at a time when the central government was turning a blind eye to the plight of expatriates.
