Interior Loses Bid to End Alaska National Petroleum Reserve Case

The Interior Department and Alaska lost their motions to dismiss a case alleging the environmental analysis for future lease sales that justified loosening restrictions on the National Petroleum Reserve was inadequate.

Judge Sharon L. Gleason of the US District Court for the District of Alaska said Thursday that Interior and Alaska didn’t show that the Bureau of Land Management’s position change regarding the environmental impact statement, expressed in an errata sheet, “is sufficiently permanent” to make the case moot.
