The Korea Institute of Science and Technology has developed a technology that uses photovoltaic energy to produce hydrogen peroxide, replacing a thermochemical process that requires high energy and creates environmental issues.

The study team used the thermochemically produced organic solution to create a photocatalytic reaction solution, improving the photocatalyst's oxygen-reduction capacity.

The research team employed solar energy to manage the photocatalyst and organic solution. They produced 5.3 percent hydrogen peroxide per unit hour and a gram of photocatalyst, five times more than the minimal industrial output standard.
